What Anglicans Believe

As Anglicans, we embrace the divine truth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, the Supreme Head of His Body — the Church.

We believe that the sacraments are by and for the Church, representing the action of Christ at work in the world and demonstrating the communion of the Church with our Creator.

We profess that the sacraments were instituted by Jesus Christ as evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in the Church.

We claim, through demonstrated apostolic succession, that Christ acts in the sacraments through the Holy Spirit to accomplish the work of the Church in the world.

Through our Anglican tradition, we accept the components of faith revealed through Holy Scripture, the Apostles and Nicene Creeds, the ecumenical Councils, the two major Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, Worship, Ministry, and Tradition, a unity that binds the Church together in a catholic ideal of faith.

We celebrate the historic fundamental form of Christianity through our faith, worship, teaching, devotions, and life with joy and love with thankfulness and confidence.

We proclaim the right to life and to traditional marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe in the historic episcopate that is male in character as set forth in Holy Scripture.

We follow the doctrines and practices of the traditional Anglican Communion as expressed in the Articles of Religion of the Anglican Church.

We follow the Book of Common Prayer, 1928 edition, which was derived from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England, as our service guide.

We believe in financial policies that allow local ownership of Church property.

We are a church truly catholic and evangelical in scope, embracing a broad base of ceremonial practice inherent in the rich history of the Anglican tradition.

We are a friendly church, welcoming all Christians who desire to worship in the time-honored traditions of the Anglican Church.
